Blog Sessions

For me it was a new experience to write whole texts in english, because in school english class was very basic, I didn’t learn too much actually. But these blog sessions have helped me a lot to improve in my writing, and now I´m able to think what I’m going to write in english firstly, not think it in Spanish and then translate it.

Also what I mostly liked of the process was the freedom to write about topics that I’m interested in, because it sometimes lets me extend and write about personal experiences, feelings, music; and in that way I feel more motivated, which makes classes more dynamic
.
One side of the blog sessions I didn’t like was the fact to have to come to the university only to write in the computer, because it spend between three and four hours traveling from home to the university, and sometimes I didn’t want to come to do something I could do from my home, maybe a good improve could be let the students do the blog sessions in their houses.

Also what I liked of the process was the fact to write comments in my classmate’s blogs, because it makes me know things about their tastes, their lives and personal opinions.

De-Loused in the Comatorium

De-Loused in the Comatorium is a conceptual album from a band called The Mars Volta. This album is based on a story written by the singer of the band, Cedric Bixler-Zavala, and the sound engineer, Jeremy Ward. The narration is about Cerpin Taxt, a man that tries to commit suicide and has an overdose of morphine that leaves him in a coma for one week. In that period he experiments a journey into his own subconsciousness, and has all kind of visions about crazy and non sense situations.

Is a very special album because it has its own book too, and the story with the music works very well. Is an intense work of art, the music can submerge audiences in an atmosphere full of ups and downs, sometimes it inspires quietness, and then suddenly it becomes aggressive, so is a very dynamic thing to ear.

Career-Related Website

http://www.rockaxis.com/

The website I first thought was the portal of a chilean rock magazine called Rockaxis. This site is composed by different sections related to each kind of music like rock, metal, hard core, etcetera.  The main section is about news, that are usually regarding to new albums, latest shows, bands that break up or get back together.  Also it has other sections that lead to reviews, interviews, articles, podcasts and some chapters of the Rockaxis tv, and every month the physic version of the magazine is uploaded to the website so everyone can read it for free.

I like this website because it keeps me informed about everything that happens in the world of music, I visit it almost everyday, but mostly I like it because I can notice that the people who works in it feels really passionate for every subject they treat. Sometimes they can describe a song or a complete album in a very beautifully way, they talk about sensations, about intensity that music provides, and that is almost as good to read as literature.

Media Bias

I think that the media and journalists are in charge of what mostly society can think about all sorts of topics, so is a big power that lies son them, because they can mold public opinión in benefit of powerful groups, politics, etc. Now, in reference to the chilean news, I think that’s exactly what happens. Mostly in national tv we can see how reality is distorted towards the groups that control the country.

But in the other hand, also exists some journalists that are committed with the truth and objectivity. In internet we can find lots of portals dedicated to what is known as against-information, wich consist in reveal what has no room on tv, radio and news papers.

So I guess now thanks to new technologies, people has more access to information, we have more diversity, wich is important as Chimamanda Adichie said on her speech, to form a more complete point of view, that includes different edges.

Fun in winter time.

This photograph shows my sister and me in winter time last year. The university was on strike so I spent so much time with her, and we took a lot of pictures together. In that time she was 1 year old, and she was adorable, well, she still is, but in that time we used to sleep together, play videogames (actually, she only looked at me playing, but she got so excited when I won hahaha), and also we used to cuddle all day!
I like this picture because it’s so sweet; I gave her those sneakers for her first birthday and she loved them. It’s so nice when she runs all over the house because the sneakers sound so cute with every little step she makes.

Now she´s 2 years old and still sleeps with me sometimes, she gets so mad when my mom comes to my bedroom to take her to her crib, she always wants to be with me, and I must say I love that!

My iPod

My favourite piece of technology is definitely mi iPod. I got my first iPod when I was fifteen, my parents gave it to me for my birthday, it was a pink iPod nano. That one lasted like three years, but it broke down. Then I was so in love with iPods, so I bought another one, a purple iPod nano. I have it since 2012, it has 16 GB so I can put all the music I want in it, I also use it to watch movies and as a recorder for interviews. I use it every day when I travel to the university, because I spend almost five hours daily in a bus, and I’m always listening to music. I think the thing I like the most about my iPod is the sound, I had lots of music players, but no one sounded like the iPod. I think music has make a lot of moments in my life much better than they would ever have been in silence,  lots of travels, walks, images have been defined by a song in particular. So, my life without my iPod would be probably less fun, less intense, because music is one fundamental part of it.

Vacation!

In my last vacation I stayed home the whole first month. I invited a cousin to come over and we had the greatest time. We sleep a lot, watched so many movies every day. Also we ate such a delicious things, like ice coffee, fajitas, burgers and many others! In february I went to Valdivia, I traveled alone but there was my grandma so I stayed with her. One day we went to a park where there was a lagoon full of lotus flowers and we saw a little turtle in the water! After two weeks in Valdivia, I went to Panguipulli with my family and we visit a lot of gorgeous places, but when we were coming back home, our car broke down and we finished the trip in a crane, it was funny because everyone looked at us in the road!
